How do you drag splash your walls?
The walls of my house have a textured look to them, and after looking at various images online Ive come to believe that its drag is called a splash. I have holes of different poor and in this house that I want to correct, and again the texture and paint. Although they do not stick the rest of the wall. How could I have got to do this, it is very complicated, what I 'd better haveing a professional come and do it? Im full of? 's lol;) any info is appreciated!
Wall texture in several versions … "Splash / drag" is sometimes also called "knock down". Typically, a new application, or repairs, it is applied with a sprayer (hoppergun), and then "equipped" in some way. It might be something as simple as drag knife line on the surface or using a "sculpted" foam roller to give a particular structure, or even hit with a bristle brush long, or a mop, hehehe … many ways to vary the texture. (Peau d'orange texture is also common wall … it's just sprayed on, no tools). If these holes are small … you can simulate the texture using hand tools (no hopper gun, no spray) – What types of texture help determine what kind of "tools" you use to apply. There is so many "artistic" the Other thing. For example, I've used to buffer with sponges, brushes to stipple with, or even wadded up plastic or rags, for mud / texture on the wall. Ive always had better results for the texture myself, but to use some of the spray (approximately the size of a box spray paint) textures that you can find at some hardware stores. If the holes are larger, then you must free up space around the hole, patch the hole, feather it, then go to match the texture. If the repair is very high, you're ahead to use a gun. If you have time and you're ready to practice a little, this is easily something you can do yourself. Often, it takes more time to prepare, it does to spray … and cleaning is half of all this type of work, hehehe. If you can send me a pic or a link, I can direct you in the direction you want to start. ******** Got your email =) .. sent 2 answers on how to emulate this model. Incidentally – If the pre-mixture of mud that you are using is a bit thick, you can add a little water to it. You'd be surprised how much difference this can make in the results. When the mud has been blown on the origin, it would have been cleared to halfway between the batter and a handful thick. If you decide to hand tool 'as it is described in the e-mail, you do not mind that thin. There are also some repair kits texture spray available …. Homag has a small gun "spray" is much like the old hand pump bug spray, hehehe – Ive not tried it myself if it can not talk about the quality of results. I used one of the other kits spray Homag greater, and it worked well for this repair only (I do these repairs Tho each week and it wasn't until that use many). These kits usually cost more spraying as the method of the tool "hand" I said to you. I not yet found a good texture spray that comes straight out of an aerosol (spray-tex 'for example). Remember to begin repair before painting … because the dry paint a different color on the patch if you do not. (Ive seen a lot of "shoddy" repairs Only because of that, hehe) You can use the bomb primer (Kilz is one), and it works very well. Usually with texture surfaces paint roller is used to apply the final coat of paint. Feel free to yell at me again, if you have more questions =) Have Fun
